Has anybody got any idea what this instrument was for, and what aircraft it was fitted to?
All I have is the picture, but the owner of the item has no idea what its purpose was either.
The only clue is its Section Reference of 9/579, which is associated with Bomb Sights.

It is indeed a splendid high resolution photo, so much detail to be seen. Thanks, James!

Hi Andy
Certainly on the later Stirlings – see pic (Note the Crook-Lock!, also just noticed that the chain for the steering seems to be under a perspex cover). This is also a Desynn instrument – basically it is a three phase motor with a pointer driven backwards and forwards at frequencies between D.C. and 0.001 Hz I should think!
I’m putting together a short video showing the Desynn and Moving coil types of dials and how to drive them – I’ll include that particular dial as I happen to have one.
Cheers
James

Thanks! Very interesting. Do we know which aircraft used it?
