Mystery leather flying helmets

G’day folks,

I was given three flying helmets yesterday. One appears to be an E type tropical helmet, but the other two are a mystery to me. They don’t have ear cups, nor do they look like any WW2 helmets I’ve seen.

Are they set up for an external headset?

Inter-war civil items perhaps? Or maybe something inter-war military?

Cheers,
Matt

I have one with ear flaps similar to that. However mine differs in that it has a neck flap; a ‘top of spine’ buckle; and the seams run vertically. I’ll try to post an image of it later. I was told that it is a tank crew helmet, but I can’t vouch for that. It certainly kept my head and neck warm when driving a drophead sports car!
