Having asked a contact of mine at Brooklands if he has any ideas and he can confirm it is from a Tornado as some of the nose sections and radomes were manufactured at Brooklands hence the connection.

Hope this helps.

Try emailing www.brooklandsmuseum.com they should know what theys got. Is the nose cone in the pressure test chamber building where the Sea Vixen used to be?

Not a ‘104, their radomes dont have a pronounced curvature like this one and recce stars had camera gear in the fuselage behind the cockpit and/or a bay under the front fuselage.

Could actually be a Tornado F2/3 but that panel must have been cut out later – ADV radomes are solid.

What a poser this is!!

 Definately agree with Gaz West, looks this a Starfighter more than anything else, but what’s that panel for? Is that for piling the coals on?

looks very mirage 5 – dunno why it would be at Brooklands tho!

It appears to have a fairly substantial pitot mounting, so not a missile.

Then again, now I look at it closely it looks too slender.

I think it is the nose cone of the HAWKER P.1127 V/STOL experimental aircraft (Harrier/Kestrel Prototype). When you see the photos you can see the panel at the front. The Brooklands museum are restoring it (see http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com) and click on aviation/exhibits/HAWKER P.1127.

there is a photo of it here

Definitely not TSR2 the taper is not sharp enough though I don’t know what else it is. Is the panel transparent? If it is it would indicate a crew position/camera port

That was Dan Akroyds (Spelling?) head gear that he used in the filming of the ‘Coneheads’ wasn’t it? 😀 😀
