Mystery part – Hudson or B-17?

This part came with some high ground wreck items – these are destined for museum display. In the box were parts from the B-17 42-97286 on Arran and Hudson AM680 which crashed in the Lake District. This part was in the bottom of the box and had no label! It’s American and is marked ‘Vega’. Vega made Lockheed Hudsons and B-17s in WW2.

The numbers on it are: 53052-99 (last digit is hard to read) and 12241.

The prefix for the Hudson is 16, but at least one US website states that some lockheed aircraft had a 53 prefix. So, does anyone recognise it please?

It even has the name VEGA cast in the bracket, although Lockheed also built B17’s.

Mystery part – Hudson or B-17?

Could possibly have come from the Lockheed C-60 Lodestar 42-56014 on Arran.

Correct Elliot it is Hudson.
