Does anyone recognise the gentleman in this portrait?
The painting is from the collection of the Royal Aero Club. Therefore, it seems likely that he was connected with aviation in some way. However, nothing is known about his painting.
From the style of the suit lapels, the portrait could have been painted during the 1930’s, or even the 1950’s.
The National Portrait Gallery has been unable to help. Is there anyone among our readers who knows who he is?

I think it may very well be Jack Northrop. Thank you very much for that suggestion. I will now direct my enquiries to verify whether that is indeed the case (or otherwise).

There is a similarity with Jack, here is an earlier photo for comparison.

Looks somewhat like Jack Northrop – and I know he lectured in London more than once.

Mystery Portrait
The emblem on the tie is a cross (crucifix). So, not much help there then. But good thought.

Is that a Royal Aero Club tie?
If not it might be the clue if it can be identified.
