mystery spitfire

hello all 🙂

new to this forum … a few years ago an old chap i used to work with showed me the crash site of what he said was a spitfire . he saw it crash. it collided with another aircraft in the air …. ive found various items . from 303 cases to engine parts and soft skin . but ive never been able to find any info out on the crash its self . seems to have been hushed up …. the crash happened next to manchester airport . any help would be of great help..
