Mystery throttle or control

This part has been sat on my desk for the last three years at least, this morning I spent another two hours trying to ID it. I bought it at a military fair many years ago and got quite excited as it looked like a supermarine part number at first glance, unfortunately not so. I have trawled through all the part number lists and inspection stamps but have drawn a complete blank. I am thinking its probably pre WWII just down to its look and the fact the knob is made of wood. So if anyone has a clue what aircraft this belongs to please put me out of my misery.

Part number 34881 F or E inspection stamp E.S. 1 in a circle.

Please ignore the attachment names its just my sense of humour.
