While on my way to work this morning I came across a Vampire T11
coded E on a lorry in a supermarket carpark in Blackwater, near Blackbushe.
It was in the silver and dayglo stripes training scheme, pod with wings, sadly facing the wrong way for the serial.Any ideas on the serial or where is coming to/from? Didn’t have time to stop and was only half awake!

Another Vampire in good hands!
Excellent stuff Vampire, thanks for the link. I particularly liked the shot of the German Shepherd Dog “guarding” its owner’s new transport! One of my earliest memories was seeing a row of these (somewhat disparagingly called) “kiddie cars” lined up in dayglo and grey at CFS Little Rissington in the early 1960s. They looked quite delicate when seen on the ramp alongside their bigger Meteor counterparts. Their whistling sound when airborne is not forgotten either. Sorry for reminiscing but I am 50 this year!

Vampire XH313
It is undercover and out the rain under a large marquee at the moment. It seems to be doing the job. I will try and sort out the blank web page!

Vampire- are you able to keep your T.11 under cover?

There are a couple of recent pictures of Vampire XH313 at www.vampirexh313.co.uk
Nope. Just getting a blank page. Unless you’ve painted the Vampire white and took the pictures in the snow on a foggy day. 🙂

It won’t be on public display i’m afraid but you would be welcome to view it in the future.

Vampire – out of interest can you say where your new acquisition will be displayed?
By: MarkG - 20th January 2005 at 20:15
While we’re on the subject of Vampires, I’m still desperately seeking pictures of my own Vamp project, XE985, while in service (with 32 Sqn. and 5 FTS). If anyone can help I’d be most grateful.

Best regards from Switzerland

Vampire XH313
The Vampire seen in a supermarket car park was indeed XH313 on its way from the yard near Sandtoft. I am pleased to say I have bought it and it was on it’s way down to Surrey. It will be a static display. If anyone has any history or photos of the aircraft, please let me know. It apparently was with 111 Squadron at North Weald in 1956.

I have no idea, but I will find out. I would have liked one of the Vampires myself, but have no room for it – They need to be undercover, or there is just no point.
Cheers

Yes, I do; now the aircraft have sold, it seems the right time to show some of them – I will start a separate thread later on.

Was Barry successful in acquiring all the a/c ?
I know he had someone lined up for the Meteor, and badly wanted the B25 himself.

Bruce do you have any more pics from the Sandtoft storage yard ?
By: robbelc - 4th January 2005 at 19:31
Have now heard it transited booker yesterday where WV499 Provest also from sandtoft was seen yesterday. So guess Parkhouse Aviation must have brought a job lot to sell on?
Shame all supermarkets don’t have jets in the car park, should be compulsory!

It is actually in pretty good condition still. I think the buyer probably got a bargain, though I doubt it will fly again. I was amazed to see the engine still fully connected, and the fuel tank fitted. I hope the new owner will be able to keep it under cover.
Cheers

Almost certainly XH313, ex Sandtoft.
A good static aeroplane for someone!
Here is a picture of the pod taken at the storage yard they were moved to from Sandtoft – Lets hope for a better future for it and the other aircraft.
