Mystery wheels?

Just to complicate things, here’s an early AD1 Skyraider wearing what looks like the same wheel….

As I suspected, it seems that this wheel is probably a fitment to a number of types. If you scroll down this link, the F4U Corsair shown seems to be wearing a pair, and I suspect we may also find them on other USN types.

Sorry Bruce, looks like you may well be right – they look just like the ones in the link. Thanks to all who have responded to this, particularly Webpilot for the picture link.

Definitely WW2 period, of US origin, as fitted to early Corsairs etc. Probably fitted to more than one type though..

I think Hellcat wheels have rounded section spokes, possibly Corsair. Maybe P-47?

I am pretty sure they are not Mustang wheels (thats what they were captioned as).

I can feel a trip to Duxford Hangar 2 approaching.
