MYT Delays at LBA

I’ve noticed some heavy delays on the MYT flights coming into Leeds Bradford over the last day or so.

The early morning flight from the Balearics will land this afternoon often 10 hours late with indefinite delays on subsequent MYT flights out of LBA.

Does anyone know what the problem is and which ‘exact’ aircraft has been affected?

Having just had a look at a.net, I can tell you the FC Kaunas squad came to Glasgow aboard this Antonov An-74. Looks like a cargo plane too.

There was just the one delay tonight at LGW, and that was on a flight coming in from Gerona, it was due in at 20:05 and it still hasn’t arrived.

MYT still seem to be the only airline having problems at LGW.:(

LBA – Whats the multi-flight camera?

Visit www.multiflight.co.uk and theres a camera at the side of the runway. Not brilliant quality but you can make out what the planes are. Click on ‘LBA live view’

The Furetevntura flight landed early and the Rhodes flight got off bang on time. Looked liked G-MCEA on the multiflight camera. No idea what caused the Tenerife delay yesterday.

Its clear MYT have had problems this weekend but to state things like “they’ll never change” is a little unfair LBA.

I hope things get sorted out soom Lyndon and thanks for the continued updates. Does anyone know the reason for the latest delay at LBA; the Tenerife 5 hour delay mentioned earlier in this thread?

Softlad its not a dig at you or MYT all it was, was putting into question the maintenance of some of their aircraft. I dont care which airline it is and that they are delayed as long as its not my flight:D

——————————————————————————–

Some of you may have seen press reports about flight delays – in particular a delayed flight from Mahon to Leeds-Bradford. The story reported in some papers was some way from the truth.

MYT 392 was delayed at Mahon by an indication fault. The captain did everything possible to fix the problem, including taxiing at speed and changing the weight distribution of the aircraft. He kept customers fully informed throughout.

Finally, after ensuring that the aircraft had been thoroughly checked, he announced that the aircraft was safe to fly and ready to depart. He stressed that safety is our priority and that we would never fly unless we were totally confident of the safety of the aircraft.

A very small number of customers chose not to fly on the aircraft. They were helped with alternative flight options and overnight accommodation. One of those customers told BBC Radio 2 this afternoon: โ€œThe company, MyTravel, were very helpful. As soon as the plane had departed, a minibus was there already waiting for us, and hotel accommodation had been found for the night.โ€ Another customer, who did fly on MYT392, confirmed on air that she would be quite happy to book with MyTravel again. These comments speak volumes about the way our people handled the situation.

I have done television interviews this afternoon to put the record straight and show the Companyโ€™s support for our captain and crew.

Frank Pullman,
Managing Director, MyTravel Airways (UK)

You may have seen a great deal of coverage in the press and on television with reference to an incident on one of our B757 aircraft this weekend. A great deal of the reporting is inaccurate and misguided and I am happy to report that the crew involved, far from acting unprofessionally as is intimated in the reporting, in fact did a particularly good job in proactively managing the situation in an attempt to give our customers the best possible option of getting home, and they are to be thanked for going above and beyond what might be expected.

You may be interested to know that our Managing Director is currently being interviewed by the BBC to respond to some of the speculation that has been generated. I currently expect this interview to be transmitted on the evening news.

Director of Flight Operations

They own a few brand new A320/1s and their A330s arent very old neither are the 767s. Its only the DC-10s and the 757s that are quite old.

You must ask the question about MYT maintenance programme for all these planes to technical problems at once. When we are Manchester for the meet, Myself, Ren & Matthew Murray observed a MYT DC10 abort take off. Do they own any new aircraft or are they all old?

Re Excel,

I think when they first started up and didnt fly to many different destinations they were very reliable. But now with not that many planes in the fleet and routes expanding all the time I think they will need to acquire new equipment.
But saying that they are still much more reliable than MYT and MON just not as reliable as they used to be.
