I was also jsut going to comment on where you got your information from jet22 as i have close contacts that work for thomsonfly and they have heard nor have been nothing more than what i have said on my previous comments.

However the reason why it has been commented about the TUI UK uniform changing is because if you look at TUIfly germany then you will see that they are phasing in a new uniform for the rebreanding of the airline despite at first the TUI group having a company wide uniform based upon the ‘sun, sea, sand and sky’ sheme albeit slightly different aspects of the uniform in different companies and branches of the industry.

The information you have on MyTravel/Thomas Cook is about right however First Choice/Thomsonfly is completely wrong. The airlines will be merged by S08 operating under Thomsonfly’s AoC, in Thomsonfly livery (or decals) and by crew in Thomsonfly uniform. No new uniform will be released as the TUI uniform is company wide (retail, airline, overseas) so would require a company wide replacement.

Makes sense to get rid of the older 733/735 famliy replacing them with the A320 while they get knew a/c

But surely it would be better for TUI to get rid of the A320s rather than the 737s in order to maintain some sort of fleet commonality before the 73Gs arrive.

Makes absolutely no sense at all to replace the 733/735 aircraft with A230 aircraft until they get new aircraft thats why they are not doing this. TUI airlines have a large number of aircraft on order the majority 737NG aircraft. These aircraft are to replace older aircraft such as the 733/735’s, and to bring in a closer fleet commonality within the TUI airline group across Europe. This can be seen already with TUIfly germany as well as Thomsonfly and Jetairfly also having new 737 aircraft deleivered already this year.

Im guessing it will all become TUI Fly and A321/A320’s leave to be replaced by 737’s.

As has already been said Thomsonfly and First choice airways will still operate as two seperate airlines until at least the end of the winter 07/08 season. After then for summer 08 the two airlines will be brought together to operate under one AOC of Thomsonfly/Tui travel airlines. As for the livery and uniform’s of the crew all FCA crew will change to the Thomsonfly/TUI uniform unless a new one is revealed by that time which has already been rumoured. As for the aicraft in the fleets themselves i would expect the airbus aircraft from the FCA fleet to be the first to leave to bring in fleet commonality for all the crews here in the UK. It is not yet known how and when the crews will be intergrated at the moment but that i’m sure will be revealed in the next update sometime in october. Finally from the tour operators side once the merger has been complete and the airline intergrated, both Thomson and First choice will continue to operate as two travel and retail brands so we will still be seeing the First choice logo and shops around for a while yet i’m sure.

It offically happened last week but the staff have not really been told anything. There was a rumor that they would loose the 757, hope not, she will be gutted.

The parents companys TUI and First Choice Holidays might of megred but FCA/TOM are still going to oparate for the next season as TWO completley different airlines. When it does happen i suspect either the 733/735 famliy will go or it will be the Airbus we will say good bye to. Both Airlines have 757 so i dont think they will be getting rid of them as of yet

Anyone heard anything about the THO/FCA merger? It offically happened last week but the staff have not really been told anything. My daughter is CC for Thomson and she is unaware of any changes to aircraft as yet. There was a rumor that they would loose the 757, hope not, she will be gutted. Bless her is aslo doesn’t want to wear the FCA CC uniform,”clashes with her eye colour”….ah if that is all we have to worry about, life would be so easy!!!

All the best

Si

Would be a shock if they did replace the 757’s with A321’s because Thomas cook uk has got 18 757 aircraft in their fleet whereas Mytravel UK only has 3/4 A321’s and im sure they would rather keep more of what they have got than start to replace them would they not? After all they are a great aircraft for the operations they use them on.

TCX have fairly recent 757’s though, maybe they could go to JET2 who are looking for a few more.

I heard one place one of the 763’s is off to Condor, but im guessing both will.
Are the CFM A320’s staying with the merger into TCX then.

The latest I heard is that the crew will be wearing the TCX uniform in November ish and all the MYT aircraft that are not heading off to Skyservice (the IAE V2500 engine ones I think) will be painted into the TCX livery by March 🙁 sad to see those colours go…

Yes the A321’s are staying (not sure what they will look like in TCX colours??) and as far as i’m aware one 767 is leaving, I’m guessing G-SJMC as her C of A expires in November but G-DAJC’s is valid until may next year? only a guess though!

On a slightly different note the MYT/TCX merger seems to be moving on much faster than the TOM/FCA merger, any reason for this?
