[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-12-01 AT 02:17 PM (GMT)]The new name of Airtours and Premiair is MyTravel Airways. This will create a single European airline with a fleet of 51 aircraft. All aircraft wil change to the MyTravel livery which will be phased in during next year.
I kind of like the new livery, rather bright but it looks cheerful and is definately better than the new Britannia livery! What do you think of it?

RE: MyTravel Airways
Hi all,
I have flown AIH on 7 occasions – 6 we’re IT charter flights (EGNM-LEPA-EGNM, EGCC-LEGC-EGCC, EGCC-LGIR-EGCC) and on a chartered enthusiats flight from EGNM-EGNM and we have never had a prob. All airlines have their good and bad points and if u want a good general perspective visit www.carsurvey.org/air

Seems like a fairly good effort to copy JMC Holidays/Airlines!!
The livery is extremely kewl tho, as is the name I suppose. I think short, to the point names like ‘JMC’ ‘TUI’ and ‘My Travel’ are the future of our beloved rubbish charter airlines!!!

RE: MyTravel Airways
The story of the female pilot at AIH is sadly, true. Airtours do have a bad reputation and having flown on one of their battered 757’s a while ago, I’ll make sure I won’t make the same mistake again. The cabin crew had a bad attitude and the aircraft was in need of a major overhaul. Plus, I’ve heard nothing but bad stories about their DC-10 fleet.
I wouldn’t wish them to go bust, but I do think it’s good that they are having an image change, it’s long overdue. I do agree though, the name does sound rubbish. Nice colour scheme though.

RE: MyTravel Airways
I’ve never heard of that story before and I have to say I find it amazing in this day and age.
I’ve flown on an aircraft with a female co-pilot once ( BY flight ACE-EMA). There were a few jokes going around the aircraft, but this is due to the fact that it is still a mainly male dominated job and it surprised a few people.
There are an increasing number of female pilots though, I hear them regularly on the scanner and while I hope there continues to be more and more female pilots, not too many as increased demand means less chance of me making it. 🙂
A point on the Airtours go bankrupt comment, this was perhaps not meant literally but was a comment made in anger at the airline.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-12-01 AT 08:53 AM (GMT)]I will tell you now why I would never entertain Airtours.
A while ago, they sacked a pilot – a female pilot. The male pilots at the airline put her through hell, would not let her touch the controls of the aircraft and one pilot even told her to get in the back and make his drinks!! Then, when the pilot was making the welcome aboard announcement he said “yes, the co-pilot is a woman, we even have them on the flight deck now but don’t blame me.”
This story is not a rumour or some feminist rubbish or propaganda, it is true. It was in the UK newspapers and there was even a TV programme about the female pilot. I would not ever knowingly patronise any airline which had such a sexist, narrow minded policy.
Anyone who thinks this behaviour is acceptable should go away and have a quiet word with himself and crawl back into the dark ages. There have always been female pilots, the aircraft factories relied upon them in the second world war to fly the aircraft to the squadrons (the Air Transport Auxilary they were called). Then there was Amy Johnson, Jean Batten, Amelia Earhart, Sheila Scott. Women are just as capable as men of flying an aircraft, that is a FACT.
Sorry for that outburst, I always tried to keep feminist type stuff off here, but I needed to make myself clear on my views on Airtours. Having been a victim of sex discrimination myself, I can assure you it is insulting, belittling and downright offensive to be told you cannot do, or understand something technical, just because you are female.

Comet take yourself off to a corner and have a word with yourself. That really is a childish thing to say in the present climate.Dont suppose you stopped to think about how many people are employed by the Airtours group and how it would affect them ?????

RE: MyTravel Airways
I find everything to do with Airtours dreadful and I would never fly with them as a matter of principle. The best would have been for them to go bankrupt – the wrong airline went to the wall back in November!!!

RE: MyTravel Airways
I think that the name is pafetic.
The colours are ok, but it looks like the way older aircraft always looked.

RE: MyTravel Airways
The name is crap, it sounds like something from a silly game like Airline Tycoon.
I like the colours though.
I don’t like the new Britannia colours at all, I think it needs a bit more colour added to the scheme and a different coloured tail.

RE: MyTravel Airways
Yea…the name sounds a little childish…should have been more mature and catchy. Colours are fine….not too exciting.
