MyTravel pull out

Just read that MyTravel is pulling out of Luton at the end of October due to a lack of business from the base.Could tie in with the lo cost airline starting up as they will have a spare aircraft to use ?

RE: MyTravel pull out

Possibly. What I meant by my post was that I have heard of a lot of people organising board and lodgings abroad and then booking the flights seperately (eg with a low cost airline-EZY to PMI…) to save money…with all this type of airline in that area it may be a factor, though I can’t see it being a major possibility and totally understand what you’ve said.

Good point but MyTravel have pulled out of Luton. Not the new Lo Cost version.See what you are saying but for a charter to pull out of a base its not through competition or too many carriers at the base its because the area does not command the business. But it will be interesting to see in a year or two if they are aggresive and base the Lo Cost airline there ??

Softlad,

I just thought that what i said might be relavent to below text!

“The area aswell…with so many airports in that area people will travel to which ever airport offers the lowest fares…with lowcosters hanging around…Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, it must be pretty tuff competition”

RE: MyTravel pull out

Yes that would make sense. Pulling resources out of a low revenue area and pumping them into a new venture that will hopefully bring in more revenue. I’m not surprised…EZY and BY based there…and do MON have some sort of a base there too? The area aswell…with so many airports in that area people will travel to which ever airport offers the lowest fares…with lowcosters hanging around…Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, it must be pretty tuff competition.
