MyTravelLite New Route!

My Travel Lite are starting a new service from Birmingham to Amsterdam. There will be 1 flight a day operated on this route. I’m quite surprised as I would have thought this flight might of matched the high frequency of flights to Paris.

Flights start on 6th February 2003

BHX – AMS : VZ321 17:55 – 19:55
AMS – BHX : VZ322 20:40 – 20:45

RE: MyTravelLite New Route!

Yup, that is a big “no” in accounting. All sorts of companies did it though and they are all being found out one by one.

It’s a puzzler, really. If you make a sale, when do you recognise it? When the sale is made, when a deposit is made, when the service is delivered? The problem of “revenue recognition” is one of the big issues in accounting at the moment. The only really answer available is to be conservative and if anything, understate the results!

RE: MyTravelLite New Route!

Dont fully understand myself but from what i can gather they were counting next years bookings in this years profits even when no deposits had been paid.Apparenty thats a big no no in accounting ? Then the city were worried that people would not pay their deposits when the shares crashed leading to all the rumors we were going to go bust. But all the deposits have now been paid and things are looking a lot better.

RE: MyTravelLite New Route!

Dan in answer to your question MyTravel and MyTravel Lite are not in any financial trouble. The shares dropped because of some dodgy accounting and when the city found out they lost all faith in the company. But things are on the mend.At the end of the month we are due to release last years profit figures which are expected to be between 40 to 50 million. So that proves the company is not in trouble with its bank balance. As for MyTravel Lite it seems to be going very well.At the moment it is planned for summer we will be operating a total of 10 aircraft and they are looking into setting up bases at GLA and MAN.Any more info ill keep you all up to speed.

Lyndon.

Im surprised they are doing any expansion just at the moment, I would have thought they would have sat tight until the companies financial situation settled down
