N.A.M

Just come home after a break in the Peak Dist Nat Park, and on the way home saw the sign for the Newalk Aircraft museum. May I just say a BIG thanks to all the guys I met there, and state, If you have never been there, GO!! it was a nostalgic trip for me, as there were many aircraft I had flown in there, particularly the Anson, and Shackleton.
More to the point, the static displays were all fantastic, just showing how much hard work had been put into their restoration.
Outside, (And it was “B” cold, three chaps were workiing on a Lightning, trying to get two panels off, from just behind the cockpit, all paint appeared to have been stripped off. Dedication by not just these 3 guys, but for many others involved.to get these aircraft into pristine condition for you and I to admire.
Thanks guys, and keep up the good work.:)

Thanks for your comments Lincoln7, which I will ensure are fed through to the volunteers who were working on Lightning XS417 yesterday. It will be nice for them to see that some people appreciate their hard work and efforts. An album of pictures has been added to the museum website that details the project.

Whatโ€™s also nice to know is that despite being barely a shell XS417 is still yielding up items that is helping to keep other airframes live and long may that continue to be the case!

As far as Hastings TG517 is concerned PeeDee it is a topic that has been touched on here before http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=96055&highlight=Hastings and sadly it would be nice if it was just as simple as a quick clean down and the application of a surface finish.

Work has recently been done to get TG517 cleaned down again for the new season and I can assure you that solutions to the problem have been and will continue to be investigated. The only real solution will be that change of location that was briefly discussed in the above thread.

Although having re-read that thread this morning I fear that like some of the comments posted in the there, some things never seem to change  and likewise it might be a while before the situation changes to the benefit of TG517.

As for flying ‘it’, please also refer to the previous thread!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Wondered where you’d gone.

Yes, I go to N.A.M a couple of times a year, good innit.
I wan’t to get a big set of steps and wash the Hastings though!
Then wax it with autoglym, and then apply an anti fouling lacquer to stop the algae coming back.

Then FLY it?. ๐Ÿ˜€
