Nachtjagd War Diaries – Theo Boiten

Can a kind person who has these volumes in their possession provide any information on a four engined bomber that may have been shot down over the coast close to the French / Spanish border 14 August 1944. It could be though the aircraft was lost through some kind of fuel explosion. Thanking you in anticipation

thank you for reply. If there were no Luftwaffe Nightfighter operations on night of 13/14 August then the loss resulted from other reasons.

You need to check your dates/timings kontrol. The Nachtjagd diaries and the Bomber Command dairies have no operations that night. Bomber Command did a daylight on the 14th.

Either you have the wrong date/s or you’re looking for info re a clash between USAAF 8th AF – OR – whatever the English tactical command was called (I have forgotten for the moment, 2nd TAF or something?) – AND – daylight Luftwaffe units.

Good luck.
