Wasn’t there a very moving analysis of that photo by, IIRC, a young Canadian student.

It was posted on here some years ago – and described very hauntingly the tired and weary look on that face of one so young.

Or is my memory playing tricks…. again!

I find this image burns into my brain somewhat… looking into the eyes of a young man who looks much older having spent many hours staring out of a Spitfire cockpit alongside the stresses involved as OC 19 Sqn…
