Natal Air Base – "The Springboard of Victory"

I’m just coming back from vacations and I have a few pics to share with you. I visited the Brazilian Air Force Air Training Command (CATRE) where are now based all the AT-26 Xavantes currently in service in FAB and is being prepared to receive the new AT-29 ALX’s and is located in the Natal Air Base (BANT), which is the biggest air base in Latin America.

During the WWII, the Natal Air Base was heavily used by the North American forces, once it was nearest place in continental America to Africa. In its apogee over 800 aircraft could be seen there! It was so important to the Allies that Natal was christened “The Springboard of Victory”.
