NATF, useful or not???

The F-14 was originally to be replaced by a navalised version of the ATF (won by the F-22), called NATF. This NATF would incorporate several changes from the F-22. For example a bigger weapons bay and a swing wing.
It was ultimately cancelled, because of budget cuts I believe. I vaguely remember talk of people doubting if it could operate safely around a carrier (landing/catapulting). I don’t know if there was any truth to those claims or just rumours. I’ll go and try to look that up. I think that would be very difficult to assess since the NATF never flew.

Any thoughts about the NATF programme??? Hands up those who want to re-activate the programme (and cancel the Super Horror!!).
