Not sure if anyone has been following this story or not, but the following article will help you to catch up: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5175058.stm
I am quite frankly ashamed to be British at the moment…I personally think that the British Government and British Justice System has fallen flat on its face over this case.
Ok, Enron was a US company, fine I accept that, but the fact that the alleged offences took place in this country means that there is no reason for them to have to be extraditied to the US, as they should face any criminal charges over here!
And to think that these men are going to be lanquishing in orange boiler suits, schackled in handcuffs, and with the potential for up to two years in jail before a proper trial can begin, and then facing up to a further 23 years with no chance of parole, makes me sick. 😡 🙁
My thoughts and feelings are with these mens families, I hope it is sorted out quickly and they get back home soon.
N.B: Interesting to note the word ‘alleged’, there is no concrete evidence to say that actually did what has been suggested…

So basically the FBI could “allege” that I ran a red light on holiday and have me on the next Continental flight to Houston ?
It only works for alleged criminal offences.

Not really. Anyone in the USA can allege anything they like and as long as a court in the US says that you have to attend court there even on the most flimsy of evidence you will be extradited. Not the same the other way though. This law was introduced primarily for the extradition of terror suspects and just like every law that this current government comes up with it’s very one sided. Tony Blair has his nose so far up the backside of George Bush it’s unbelievable.
