Is there any news on the current status of the Sea Hawk and Sea Fury from Yeovilton? The last I heard was that both were expected to fly this year.
Anyone got any updates?

The last time I saw it in the air before the recent May 11th encounter was April 1997, so six years in all was spent on the ground.
At the moment the volunteers at BAE-Systems at Brough are splitting their time with the major repairs to Mk.II LS326’s wings and the total rebuild to flying condition of Mk.III NF389.
At the moment I do not know when the projected completion date is for NF389, but will try and find out.

Nice to see the Firefly in Biggin’s circuit on Saturday morning. Gave a crisp display too. How long was she grounded on restoration? Is there any idea yet when there will be all 3 Swordfish airworthy?

She flew her first display on May 11th at a event at Yeovilton.
The probs with the prop and other minor niggles dogged the RNHF throughout the 2002 season, but they are all sorted out now and the aircraft is I believe serviceable.

How is the Firefly coming along?Last I heard it was having problems with the prop and so had hardly flown since it’s rebuild. Is she back flying again?

The Sea Hawk will be going to Culdrose’s Air Day in July if its rebuild is complete. Not sure on other venues other then Yeovilton in September.
The Firefly, which will be going in WV908’s place to Kemble, looks lovely after its long-term rebuild by British Aerospace at Dunsfold/Yeovilton.
The Sea Hawk was to have made its return last year, but continuing problems with the Firefly last season prevented this. The small yet superbly skilled BAE-Systems restoration team were working on both projects at Yeovilton, and now that the Firefly is serviceable the team are concentrating full-time on WV908.

The Sea Hawks appearence at Kemble was always going to be a tight call, but I have received no notification from the RNHF to say that it will not show up, so as far as I am concerned the a/c will participate until someone tells me otherwise.

Check out their website:
http://www.yeovilton.org.uk/Displays.htm
As it says at the end “Confirmed appearances of the Sea Hawk and Sea Fury are both subject to the satisfactory completion of restorative work estimated to complete in June 2003 and July 2003 respectively”
Thanks,
Andrew

The Sea Hawk was last i heard due to be ready in time for the Classic Jets Airshow at Kemble. The Sea Fury should be ready by the summer.
