NAW Sopwith Camel pictures

Thank you. I always feel slightly saddened that they are going to cover up all the beautifull workmanship that whent into the wood and metal structure underneeth.

The other gun, and the wood for wing no. 4. Our Camel will also be fitted with a bomb rack and 4 20lbs Cooper bombs.

Front and rear engine plates installed, along with crank, 1 machine gun & sight.

Wing no.3 on the table. Wings 1 & 2 are complete, and can just be seen on the stands beyond the fuselage in the first picture.

I’m not sure of the maximum file size.

Thank you. This is a subject of great interest to me mainly becuse i am at college just behind the collection so if anyone eventualy heres of an arrival date i will endevour to be there for that day.

Will take some new pictures tomorrow, Ollie. Quite a bit of progress since Eddie’s photos were taken.

Great so the fund is up to £1. There was a rumour a couple of years ago that the SE5 had made a return, anyone hear any more about that recently?

Would that be Mr Ditheridge’s (previously Desmond St Cyrien’s) lovely G-ASOP before it was sold overseas? Maybe we could all club together and buy it back, I believe the current owner only wants $1.6m for it

Correct… a rather challenging project, considering most of the drawings were destroyed. Ours are being reverse engineered from various contemporary sources.

PS – I wish I could say I had something to do with building the Triplane and M1C, but I only started helping on the Camel last year!

I couldn’t say when the Camel will be completed. Too many variables yet!
