Mr Parkin is now in talks with Continental Airlines after American Airlines withdrew its proposed route from Newcastle to JFK Airport, in the Big Apple.
The blow was announced yesterday and it has left several hundreds North East holidaymakers, who had already booked trips to the USA disappointed.
These customers are being give the option of a refund or a connecting European flight to New York.
