Aircraft: JET2 Boeing 757-200 G-LSAC
Seat: 9A
Departure time: 16:05
Route: Newcastle to Tenerife South
After a near 2 hour journey to Newcastle from York i arrived at NCL Airport for the first time ever, and unlike Manchester this only seemed half the size.
I was very impressed with the airport layout and i first had a starbucks sandwich and iced coffee then went to check in where i saw Lukeylad (he didn’t notice me though). Very friendly check in staff at Newcastle airport, the girl with glasses knows what customer service is.
After check in went through the usual security and into the departures lounge which had a brilliant range of shops and i was very impressed with the cleanliness of the airport and the layout in the departures area.
I saw an RAF L1011 doing circuits around NCL and also was lucky enough to see it do a purposed missed approach too, could hear the roar in the terminal.
I thought i was never going to see another Tristar in my life, but was over the moon when i saw this one.
I saw my JET2 757 G-LSAC Lanzarote arrive in from Palma then before we knew it we were called to the gate.
Boarding was very fast unlike charter airlines who like to mess about, no nonsense here, we were quickly put on a Cobus and driven to the 757 on the remote stand.
On boarding i was very impressed how clean the 757 was and was also nice to discover this aircraft also had air conditioning and lovely clean leather seats. G-LSAC is the newest 757 in the JET2 fleet, only built in 1992 compared to others in the fleet been built in the 80s.
After 10-15 minutes we began to make our taxi to runway 25 then G-LSAC began to spool up then made the usual 757 roar (Always best sound been near front), take off wasn’t too powerful, infact very smooth but the engines had a lovely sound to them. After only 30 seconds we rotated and then headed kept heading west until we were flying over Dublin then made a left turn to head south for four hours.
Listened to my MP3 player which included Pet Shop Boys “what have i done to deserve this” and PM Dawn “Set a drift on memory bliss” which was quite relaxing when looking at the clouds.
I went for the £5 meal deal, a very cold but nice tuna sandwich along with sour cream and onion pringles with a diet coke. Not bad value but i wish they did salt and vinegar pringles.
After 4 and a half hours we made an approach onto runway 8 at TFS on sunset and a very smooth landing, without having to use much reverse at all.
We were then bussed to the airport terminal and luggage was collected then i went for my taxi. Overall a fairly decent flight and quite enjoyable.
My ratings.
Cabin crew 7/10 (Nothing special however they were polite)
Comfort 9/10 (Leather seats and air con, you can’t ask for more)
My Meal deal 7/10 (The sandwich wasn’t brilliant, ive had better from ASDA)
Value for money 10/10 (My dad paid ha)
