Had the 70-300 APO as well till it broke (2 months out of waranty ).

It is an excellent lense, but only for good weather. Also, while technically it is a 70-300 you’d be wise to use it in the 70-250 range only, above 250 the quality deteriorates rapidly.

From time to time the auto-focus can be a bit slow, hunting for the target. However, for a lense in this pricerange it is one of the best ones available. In my opinion better then the similar lense from Canon.

As mentioned mine broke just after waranty expired. Might just be a case of bad luck, but I would go for extended waranty nonetheless. It might be cheap where lenses go, but that still makes it a lot of money!

Nothing wrong with the Sigma 70-300.

It’s an excellent lens for the price, but Ren Frew is right to point out it’s limitations.

He’s also right when he says you’d be wise to post this in the photographic section as well. 🙂

That or the Canon equivalent will get you some nice close ups in decent light, don’t expect to shoot much after dusk though…

You should post this in the photographic section for a a better chance of replies mate, but you ought to be looking at something at least 300mm and you can get something for around £200 or £2000…
