Is it true that IAE engines are worse than cfm on an Airbus A320. I am told that they accelerate worse than CFM. Can anyone give me details asap.

RE: Need info and quick pls!
CFM is a 50/50 joint venture between SNECMA and GE
IAE is a 50/50 JV between RR and PW
Read into that what you will!

Yes CFM gives better performance at low altitudes.

I can’t remember which way round it is but 1 is supposed to give slightly better performance at low level and the other is better at cruise levels. There are many other differences but this was the principle one I was told when I asked a bus pilot (driver?).

From a passenger point of view, IAE powered aircraft like BA A319’s “feel” as well powered as any other A320 on takeoff.

RE: Need info and quick pls!
I read an article recently written by an A320 pilot and he wrote ‘Even with a 170,000lb aircraft, take-off acceleration is pretty good. Given a light aircraft and a cool day, the acceleration rate can be even more eye opening’, the article also went on to say that the IAE V-2500 engines are proving to be reliable and efficient.
If you are refering to the rate at which the engines spool up then I don’t know wether the IAE engines are slower than CFMs.
Hope this is of some help.
