A fella at EMA asked me today if I knew anything about this, I don’t so I thought I’d ask if any of you guys have heard anything, the info is a bit vague unfortunately.
Apparently an IL-62 is being flown into a northern German airport for a day on a charter flight, whilst there it is planned to do a couple of pleasure flights for enthusiasts on a kind of sub-charter basis, its all supposed to happen in October and a chap is apparently offering day trips from Stanstead.
Thats all he could tell me and not having internet access I said I would try and find something out, so there you have it, if anyone can help/confirm/deny I’d be grateful. 🙂

Understood, thanks. Just hoped that I had found someone else who had flown on the IL62…..don’t seem to be many around that have…c’est la vie!

Please tell us more Steve about your IL62 flight. Having made several on them myself it would be interesting to hear someone elses observations.
You know in my fifty odd years of flying, i’ve never flown on any Soviet types
The remark was made tongue in cheek, it’s my wry sense of humor

That’s one hell of a good review and set of photographs.
The Iran Air 747SP ride sounded like a lot of fun! 😮

Here is an absolutely fantastic report of the recent Iran 747SP pleasure flight.
Sounds fantastic.

IL62 Flights
I don’t it ever got any further than the planning stage but I had an E Mail in July about an IL62 flight that was being organised.
It was to be on an IL62 (Not M version) of Kras Air operating from Pardubice which I’m told is about 90k east of Prague. It was to be on a Sunday in either September or October for 100 Euros.
There isn’t a web site or anything but those interested were asked to express their interest to IL62@planes.cz
Thats all I know. Sorry cant help any more but you might be able to find something out by contacting them.

I remember the IL62 flight as well, but you are just a tad late as it has already been done a few weeks back. The B747SP mentioned bij Ren Frew was this weekend so you’re too late as well for that one.
The company organising these flighs are “Airevents”. They do these flights every year and from what I hear they are really good. Have not had the pleasure of trying them out but will certainly be doing that as soon as finances and time permit. Might be a while though 🙁

I seem to recall Mark L discussing something similar involving a 747SP recently ?
Perhaps he’ll know about this too ?
