Hello to all fellow aircraft buffs. I am attempting to identify this variable pitch prop (see attached photos). This is a 2 blade hydraulic control variable pitch piece of history. It is puported to have been from a Mk1 Spitfire that crashed near Dover England in August 1940 during the Battle of Britain. There are no identification markings what-so-ever and it feels like it weighs in excess of 100 pounds.
To confirm its heritage is likely impossible. What I am hoping to find is its age, manufacture, and application along with any other detail.
Any assistance along this vein will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance – – – Sprockets.
