Never before seen WW2 Checkertail P-51's at Lesina-1944

I visited 325th Fighter pilot Captain Arthur C. Fiedler, Jr. and copied three images that took he took at Lake Lesina as a panoramic shot and printed onto photo paper. The images had never been put together before, so I copied them with a Nikon D3 and set about it merging them with photoshop. I then hand-coloured the image (including every last check on the rudders and elevators).

The final result can be seen here. The image as it is,has never been seen before, although one of the images appears in the front cover of Herky! The Memoirs of a Checkertail Ace, all three have never been seen before and they have never been joined together and certainly never in colour.

Hope you like it, cheers, MP.

Stunning, but I am puzzled why you did not straighten the horizon?
