Never Gonna Happen Formations…

Okay, how about formations that could happen, (i.e, the aircraft are all up and about now) but probably never will?

First one that comes to my Avro-obsessed mind is seeing two Lancs airborne together; I don’t think the CWH will ever bring theirs over, and of course, there’s no question of ‘474 making such a trip.

Definitely seven – a very impressive stream take off, followed by two passes of a surprisingly close ‘seven ship’ – fantastic end to the show (now if I could only scan those slides…..)

What a spectacle that would make 🙂 .

Mee too there are enough of them about. Also either towing Horsas or a mass para drop!

Heinkel & Messerschmitt 109 formation – not asking for Battle of Britain movie-scale formation, but still unlikely for a long time, if ever 🙁

A Bomber barons’ delight would include…

Lancasters’ PA474 and FM213
B-24’s Diamond Lil and Dragons Tail
B-17’s Sally B, Pink Lady and 9-O-9
and finally B-29 Fifi

All in the air at the same time and at the same location.

Would love to see the TFC Hawker Nimrod and Shuttleworth Hind in formation with the Begian Fury.Hopefully Guy Black’s Fury will be up and about before too long,so perhaps that formation isn’t so fanciful!Perhaps even the Skysport Demon could make it a four ship!
Would also love to see the RNHF SeaFury with the Seafire 47 and Fairey Firefly from the US in a Korean War formation, perhaps with Tigercat/Sabre/Corsair/Invader/Skyraider formation to represent the US.

You’ve missed the point here mate; this is for aircraft that are currently airworthy, that could fly together but to date, haven’t, not for things that are languising in museums etc!

Re. the Hurricanes, I’d say, give it time; I think we’ll see more appear as the years roll on now, so you never know!
