Yesterday there was an article in the Dutch newspaper about KLM, KLM has to replace it’s old MD-11 and Boeing 767’s.
As a replacement, the can choose between the Boeing 777, the Airbus A330/340.
But there ar some differences between Boeing and Airbus.
The 777 has a larger range than the A330, but Airbus said that if KLM would choose for it, they would get the number of A330’s. And for a nice price some A340’s……..so that is, I think a good offer.
And now about the 777….which one is better the 200(ER)/300(ER)/400(ER)? there is a difference in range, but is it that important?
My opinion is that KLM has to choose Airbus, this because Airbus offer dutch companies to co-operate in building parts for the planes.
I would like to know what your opinion is

It would be nice to see KLM opt Airbus…afterall they are in Europe!. I think, however, they will opt Boeing due to the history and the better spec on the 777.
I remember hearing about KLM fleet renewel plans and the considoration of the 330/340 some time ago. May be that was the announcement of the changes…now they are looking into the possible a/c.

Yes, the 777 is the bee’s knees and I am very sure KLM will opt for it, probably the -200ER.
They’d only go for Airbus if the Dutch government applied pressure – not something I’d say is too likely.
At least all 3 options can have RR Trent power! So the UK could do OK out of it regardless.

Although British and Airbus having British parts I would rather they went for Boeing. Far better aircraft than airbus and far better layout inside

I don’t think that KLM will choose any Airbus since they are Operating boeing’s for years.

Well i personally feel they will go for the 777-200ER, it will solve there purpose. besides being the most populor model yet, the 200ER is also not bad on fuel, and the range is good(13,667 km), on the other hand A330s range is 8348 km and A343s is 13,343 km. According to me they might go for B777, also they have been a old customer of Boeing, so there experience with them will be quite good, good enough to get the 777. On the other hand, they might by Airbus because its a European manufacturer and spare parts and maintanence will be little cheaper.
