Are you sure that you are not confusing this with a previous ‘blitz dig’ featuring Tony Robinson and crew?
I think ‘Blitz Street’ is all new
Just caught up with this, and yes you were right. My mistake!

Looks interesting.
This was on a couple of years ago, excellent programme.

I think ‘Blitz Street’ is all new and from the trailer the idea seems to be to progressively destroy the purpose built street with bigger bombs from 50kg to a V2 warhead…
…a shocking waste of resources that could have been used for the homeless if you ask me! :diablo:
[Of course if the ‘bombs’ don’t have casings and don’t explode underground I’m not sure the results will be too scientific.]

I expect Emmerdale will do a story about a He 111 wreck being found in the village….just to compete! 🙂
The other documentary wont clash, though!

Good news, although it clashes with Emmerdale so i hope it repeats.

Just to clarify…..
The series will not be called Dig WW2 by the BBC (as per the 360 Productions promo) but “Dig 1940”. Presenter is Jules Hudson. Dates yet to be announced, but possibly within the BBC Battle of Britain season.
This will not be the only TV documentary featuring a Battle of Britain aircraft recovery this year! 😉

Dig 1940
Without giving too much away, I was involved with the programme concept from the outset and was commissioned by the production company, 360Productions, to come up with a set of ideas for programme content. It is not just about recoveries, but there is a He 111 and Hurricane in the UK and a Do 17 and Ju 87 overseas….although I do not know if they have all made the final cut. I was not involved on the recovery side, but the programmes cover much more than just that aspect. They include investigations of the Dunkirk beaches and diving on a ship of Convoy CW9 Peewit off the IOW and also the background of a well-known Battle of Britain RAF casualty with some stunning previously unseen colour film he had from the period. I was involved with the convoy story and the RAF pilot, and also stuff at Uxbridge Ops room but didn’t get my hands dirty digging, this time!
No dates yet, but I believe a Monday, Weds and Fri in one week, BBC1, straight after The One Show.
