I have just reached the point of despair! It seems that every positive comment has to have a negative one to drag it down! I have not read a single book, aviation or otherwise that is without a spelling mistake or grammatical error. I’ve even seen material recently that has an error on the cover! For christ sake, 180,000 words the odd error is going to creep in. Stop slagging other peoples work off.

😡

Sorry didn’t mean to upset anyone, but just some of the spelling mistakes, particulary of place names, will be misleading to anyone using the book for research. It is an excellent book, but with a little more care, it would be exceptional. The spelling comments in no way are a reflection of the authors work, more of the proof reader at the publishers.

Bit of a shame that there are so many spelling mistakes in the book, should have been better proof read, but still a very good book.

FlyPast Review

“To read this book is a delight and it is quite clear that Mick has not left a stone unturned in his researches. This book is backed up by plenty of appendices, a great index, superbly reproduced illustrations and clear, careful design. All of this pales against the warm yet authoritative narrative……..”

I went to buy one in Norwich on Saturday, but it appears that it is is sold out. Jarrolds store are waiting for more to come in, so had to reserve a copy….:(

Jarrolds should be restocked on or around the 18th January 2008. 3000 more copies travelling across Europe as we speak!

Couldn’t wait for Christmas so I went and got myself a copy of the new Coltishall book by Mick Jennings.
Very nice! It is split roughly 50/50 between prop and jet age. Loads of combat and anecdotal stories – has a bit of humour too. Thought it was of those books you just don’t want to put down – sat and read through the WW2 stuff it a single sitting! Though I knew a bit about Coltishall, but I learnt a whole lot more from this.

HMP Coltishall

Today the Government announced that the base is to become a new Prison. Sad that after all the young disciplined men who died flying from Coltishall fighting for their country in World War Two,that the site is to home mostly young undisciplined men who hardly give a damn about respect.

The latest story about Coltishalls future.
