New Books of interest.

I was just looking through the shop on this site when I came across this:

Soviet / Russian Aircraft Weapons (Since World War Two) [B151]
Weapons design is as crucial an aspect of a combat aircraft’s development as the work of the airframers or propulsion specialists. Soviet and Russian combat aircraft generally have a well-earned reputation as capable fighting machines a reputation due in no small part to the punch they pack

Price: £24.99 £24.99

Of course this got my interest but i wanted more info so I did a quick search on Amazon.com and got this page:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1857801881/qid=1105071838/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-2916380-6912137?v=glance&s=books

(and I also noticed this page:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/188058879X/qid=1105071838/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-2916380-6912137?v=glance&s=books
… which looks interesting too.)

Both books should be very interesting… if anyone gets these could they give a review of them here please. (I have just ordered a few books and can’t spare the cash at the mo to order these… they aren’t due to be published till next month anyhoo.)

I have seen books about western air to ground weapons or about all air to ground weapons (which was basically western plus the odd non western weapon) but this is nice… and english language book on Russian and Soviet weapons.

Note at both the shop online here and on amazon they have the OKB Ilyusion book also due in late Feb

I’ve had a look at the book in a shop. Many good photos and drawings of all of the bombs, rockets and missiles you could hope for, but nothing at all on guns as far as I could see…

That is a little disappointing.
Can you remember if they mostly consisted of Museum type lined up weapon shots or in action launch shots or a mix.

I must say I am looking forward to it.

Tony, have you considered contacting the author for perhaps a joint effort in a second part that focuses on the guns?

Thanks in advance Peter, your opinions will be appreciated too. (At this stage I won’t demand that you scan the whole book in pdf format :dev2:

I thought it also covers gun pods?

I’ve ordered a copy, which is due ‘sometime’ this month. I’d be happy to answer any questions when I get it in a couple of months 🙂

I’m looking forward to the Russian weapons work. I wasn’t aware of AIRTime’s new book-maybe the two-part volume is a follow-on to the apparently forgotten Russian Military Aviation Directory thing they had planned a while back?
