ROFLMAO

You think a spit is bad… EVERY piece on the Boomerang was pretty much individually drilled for each specific aircraft …ie NO JIGS!!! So taking one piece off one plane and fitting it to another does not guarantee success!! Such is the joy of restoring them :p

Problem with Spit frames are that they are unique for every spit.Pulling one out of one and fitting it to another wont work unless you use new undrilled skins.

The new Boomer is more new build around an original frame using traditional style of manufacture.

Probably no less original than many Spitfires and Hurricanes now flying though

Beautiful photos, many thanks for posting. I had no idea so many (relatively!) Boomerangs survived. I’ve never seen one “in the flesh” so far but who knows?

Nope, A46-122 (Suzy Q) is happy now at Temora, A46-206 (Millingimbi Ghost) has taken up permanent ground residence at Oakey Army Aviation Museum and A46-30 is tucked away in its hanger at Pt Cook

Excellent pics. That’s how Michael Bay would photograph a Boomer! 😀

I almost forgot it’s a two-seater, too! I take it the panels behind the cockpit conceal the second seat, rather like some of the modded P-40s?

Fantastic that the two seat conversion hasn,t altered the lines of the aircraft at all.

Looks like Matt at the controls in thet piccy of the Boomerang taxiing

Gooday All

Great news, if my memory serves me correctly, the original Boomerang went from an idea to a flying machine in a very short period of time (was it 13 weeks?) Nowdays the bean counters wouldn’t haven’t raised the job numbers to book the costs to in less than a year.

We really have problems with speed of decision making these days.

Looks like Mathew at the controls in thet piccy of the Boomerang taxiing

cheers

I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for the Boomer, since building the old Airfix kit a long while ago.

How many flying now?
