New British Airways livery ?

OK so the first BA livery lasted ten years 1974-1984, the Landor livery from 1984-1997 and the current Utopia/Chatham theme has been around for ten years more or less… So given the frequency of past change, every ten or thirteen years can we expect a new livery soon and especially in time for the arrival of the 787 and A380 ?

Do any of the BA guys here know anything and is now a good time for the talented designers amongst the bretheren to start speculating ??? 😉

I think it’s about time BA came into the 21st century with their livery.. along with a few other world carriers such as Qantas and American ..just to name a couple

That still is the current logo

Of course I realise that 3DM, what I should have said was the 80’s ‘looking’ logo. Didn’t explain myself too well.

Seems to me like a good opportunity to drag it up to date.

If you look at this link, profile #37 depicts a Stratocruiser in the current BA livery – yuck! The FedEx and SAS Il-76s look better, I think!

OFF TOPIC

I love that site, the EPTS schemes on the TSR2, Spit MkXIV, A10 and SU-30MK look brilliant.
The image of the A10 in Israeli colours must send chills around some parts of the Middle East.

That still is the current logo, but could do with some tweaking 🙂

Yes indeed and can be seen on the BN Islanders which came out of mainstream BA livery a couple of years ago. I must try and fnd out if there are plans afoot to create a new, contemporary Loganair livery… ?

Ithink it would be ultra-cool to paint the retro schemes on some of the aircraft – going all the way back to the BOAC days. Retro schemes look so good!

That’s a superb idea. I’d love to see a BOAC 747-400!

On a similar subject, it occurred to me today in GLA that Loganair will be in need of a new livery.

I always liked this one except for the very 80’s tail logo.

What would the designers among us come up with for them?

Conversely, I’ve always fancied seeing a DC-3 in contemporary BA livery…

A couple or three retro jets wouldn’t go amiss.
Red square Airbus and BOAC 777 anyone?
Be lucky

I really think that the BAW Livery just requires are slight tweak to bring it up-to-date. I was thinking of adjusting the blue belly to a curve, similar to DAL, but sitting slightly further up the fuselage. I think that would be fresh, without loosing any of the brand identity.

I was thinking of something along the lines of the US Airways scheme, along with a slight re-working of the Chatham flag. Perhaps that revised underbelly as you suggest with a thin white and red cheatline sitting above it ? Some sort of revised ‘British Airways’ typeface and let’s have a stylised union flag on the winglets (where appropriate) a la Virgin Atlantic…

I certainly haven’t heard anything to suggest a new livery is on the cards.

I haven’t got any ideas, other than to say perhaps they could paint a series of well known London landmarks down the length of the aircraft, to represent the true nature of the airline.

Joking aside, I like the current livery, but think it would be ultra-cool to paint the retro schemes on some of the aircraft – going all the way back to the BOAC days. Retro schemes look so good!
