Just been watching the Jacquard fw190 painting video on youtube:
http://http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=P-AiqTm__sc
Eric Goujon is quoted as saying that they hope to do engine runs this month with plans for first flight in May this year, which is great news. However, can anyone shed any light on what has happened to the flugwerk example? from what i understand it had a prang while landing but that’s as far as its got. Also if the french example is near to flying, will it help with mr Blairs example at Dx or is the french equivalent of the CAA slightly more lenient with these Repros?
Cheers

As regard to the replica FW190 at Dx i think the CAA are nothing short of pathetic. How long is it going to take for them to give a straight yes or no as to its first flight.? All our historic aircraft, whether authentic or not, already operate with very strict rules and guidelines as to there operation.. so why do they keep dragging there bloody feet over this one?
Could take forever… Nothing in life is straight forward, you can have 2 identical aircraft (identical in every possible way) sitting together, yet there are still more and more hoops you need to jump through.

The German CAA are somewhat more understanding of such an experimantal aircraft than our own. I dont know what the status of the Blair machine is at the moment in terms of intention to fly in the UK, although clearly it would make quite a sight if it can be achieved.
This sort of thing really stinks, what the hell is EASA about if not harmonising the regulations across the whole of Europe? We have the ADDED burdens of newly concocted rules, which threaten to ground the B.17’s etc under new, ruinous insurance demands, our Public Transport DC-3’s are mothballed because they cannot meet potty new security requirements, but almost nothing changes to our advantage.
It is as though we have signed away many of the liberties and rights which we enjoyed, yet eagerly embrace the new restrictions imported from the regulatory regimes of the rest of Europe 😡

I think historically the German authorities have always had a favourable response to certification of the real and ‘decaffinated’ FW-190’s !

Apart from the French one the Fighter Factory example at Bremgarten is being intensivley worked on for flight later this year. I don’t recall hearing the Flug-Werke prototype had a landing accident, but it was used in a Finnish WW2 film, painted in the markings of a particular ace.
Apart from that…!
