Some years ago I seem to recall reading about someone in the USA building an airworthy replica of the MB5 using both P51 parts and new manufactured parts.
I have not read anything else about the project since and wonder what ever happened to it, did it ever get completed.

MB5 fighter
Hi everyone,
first of all thank you Tony T for the links and updates, last time I had seen this project the fuselage had only been cpmpleted so it was good to see the final assembly and engines runs.
whether it be a replica or atribute no one can argue the fact its still a incredible acheivement.

Not so much a replica, it is too inaccurate, but apparently a chap’s idea of an improvement on the original design. Make up your own mind on whether it is worthwhile. As someone else said, more a tribute than a replica. Personally, it annoys me, it seems such a lost opportunity.
As is often pointed out when this subject comes out again…
It’s still a better replica than exists in the UK or anywhere else.:D
