At the former Heeresflieger airfield of Mendig (not far from the famous Nuerburgring race course) some enthusiast have started a collection of historic aircraft with hopefully several interesting machines in the future.
The collection is housed in Hangar 2 (2100 square meters of future aviation dreams)

Does anyone know what happened to the T-33 N132GB?

Thanks for the update! Shame things didn’t work out 🙁

That’s a real shame. And what happened to the Red Star Rebels?

Hi Fouga23,
due to permanent problems with the landlord we decided to quit all our plans at Mendig.
Some static items are now at www.luftfahrtmuseum-wernigerode.de Most of the ejection seat collection is stored by one of our members.
Flying Aeronca (from 1938) N127KM is now at www.fliegendes-museum.de
and finally the Fouga D-IFCC was flown to Padernorn airport some weeks ago. The trainer is now owned by several members of the www.quax-flieger.de group.

Anyone know how this collection is going? Does the Fouga still fly?

Yesterday we received this Sud-Est Alouette II Helicopter from the www.luftfahrtmuseum-wernigerode.de in exchange for the Rutan Quickie (owned by one of our members).
So for the very first time since the German Heeresflieger have left the airfield in 2007 a military helicopter can be seen in Mendig. We are very much looking forward showing the Alouette II to our visitors this weekend during the Open-Day.
Dear Stefan!
Thanks very much for the update on the “Fliegendes Museum Mendig”.
I have a small correction, however: D-EJUL is no Rutan Quickie but a Walters/Nelson or Viking Dragonfly/Libelle. The following picture shows the same aircraft on the occasion of the ILA 1984 (Hannover).
Kind regards,
Thomas

This weekend we had our `open day´. Very diversified weather conditions (everything from sunshine to hail) and many visitors – and several interesting visiting aircraft.
Hope we have time in the near future to update our webpage www.fliegendes-museum-mendig.de
But certainly you find us at facebook: just search for `Fliegendes Museum Mendig´

Many of things had to be done during the last months, and many more still have to be done – but now we are on a good way for a proper collection.
May 11. – 12 will be an open day at Mendig airfield when we will open our hangar doors for interested visitors.
Meanwhile Antonov An-2 SP-AMP is in our hangar and a member of our group has obtained this replica Nieuport 11 Bébé from southern Germany.

Our members also have acquired many items from the now closed `Schleudersitzmuseum Soellingen´ at Baden-Airpark. Three trucks have arrived at Mendig airfield during the last weeks. The Mig-21 cocpit is privately owned and was shown at Baden-Airpark – and will be shown at Mendig from now on.

It puzzles me where this L-29 is going/staying: As RA01611 it is also mentioned at the thread about St.Athan, where a new L-29 demoteam is forming.. Are there two Tiger coloured L-29 in Europe, part of an identical twin ?
Who can shed a light?
Aerovet
Actually Our group has bought the mentioned Aero L-29 in January (as written earlier in this threat). And perhaps the gentlemen in St.Athan have read about our acquisition here in the forum >>> some days after I wrote about the Tiger coloured machine my friend got a call from one of those gentlemen >>>> and so the trainer will have it´s future flying in british skies and not staying in a german museum :):)
