Flyforbeans to launch Cardiff Airport flights

A new budget airline called Flyforbeans is to operate flights across Europe from Cardiff Airport. The first passengers are expected to travel with the airline before the end of this year, on routes to several destinations including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Eastern Europe not currently offered by the airport.

Managing director of flyforbeans, Tim Lee, said: ‘Flyforbeans will be a European airline headquartered in Wales. We will be a truly low-cost airline and be dedicated to great value and excellent, friendly service.’

‘The flyforbeans senior management team have more than a century of experience combined in the international aviation industry. Together we plan to build a low-cost carrier that is profitable but that never forgets its customers.’

Aviation consultancy SkyMerlin has launched the airline, which will operate win an initial fleet of three Boeing 737-300 series aircraft seating up to 148 passengers each. Up to 100 new jobs – 75 crew and 25 office staff – will initially be created by the venture, with more expected as the airline grows.

The south Wales-based project is being funded by private investors and the airline said it was confident its application to operate would be accepted by the Civil Aviation Authority. Specific details about routes will not be made known until the first flights go on sale, expected to be in Autumn.

If Mr Bean flies with them will he take his Teddy?

I’d be more worried about the fact that, as the name is FlyForBeans, beans being plural, there may be more than one of them.

Reason to be worried? Quite possibly! 😀

The website looks like it has been thrown together in the best part of 10 minutes..

Three Boeing 737-300s will operate, each able to carry 148 passengers.

The airline hopes to run up to 12 return flights from Cardiff a day.

Thats 4 flights a day per plane… not too bad unless you get a tech issue with one of them..

A quote from Tim Lee, managing director of the company taken from the BBC link above:

“We know there is a lot of leakage from south Wales to other airports like Bristol”.

AHEM… Anyway…

I hate to sound cynical, and I really do hope this is a serious new airline and they succeed, but I can’t help but wonder just how serious they are when I look at their website (flyforbeans.com) and see the way it’s written. It doesn’t project the image, to me at least, of a company that’s even remotely serious! Maybe I pay a little too much attention to words, it just seems that way.

I do hope they are serious though, although I must say, the name is horrendous! “So who are you flying with on your holidays?” “Oh, we’re flying with Flyforbeans.com.”

Paul

Agreed. Surely the phrase they are looking for is “for peanuts”??

I’d have thought that, if the airline is based in Wales, they’d have called it “FlyForLeeks”
