Explaination here: http://gassundertrykk.com/movie/index.html

There was a lively debate on PPRUNE, several months ago, about this video.

What does that do to the skin panels on the underside of the wing? 😮

Aircraft are designed to be able to accomodate something like this without getting their wings damages in anyway.

Well, I know the 737 is at least.

Apparently no damage was caused to either the engine or the underside of the wing/flaps etc.

Its a ‘wet-run’ performed after an engine has been in storage for a while, excess storage-oil and fuel is burnt off on ignition, the reason this one is so spectacular is that the fuel didn’t ignite on the first attempt leading to slightly more fuel than normal being ignited! 😮 🙂

Ahah, quite funny. Trying to start the engine by the looks of things…..injected too much fuel. Happens quite often…quite a shock if the passengers are on-board though 😀
