A new F-104 was revealed at a ceremony at KB this afternoon. It will be placed on a pole in the centre of a roundabout. Hence the typical u/c. π
The last airworthy Italian 104 arrived at the celebration. Its mate broke down this morning!

Thanks aerovet. The F104 is still a joy to see. I hope the Michael Jackson F104 can be preserved too.

Germany and Turkey are still flying F-4s which I would consider as “real menΒ΄s aeroplanes”.
Err, not in my books……..’real men’s aeroplanes’ only have one seat for the pilot……… π π π

Greece still operates Phantoms too.
And don’t forget Albania’s MiG-15UTIs, and Chinese-built MiG-17s and -19s (J-5 and J-6 respectively). I don’t think their J-7s are still flying, but then again the Czechs, Romanians and Bulgarians do continue to fly those.

So what is actually left flying (type wise) as the last of the ‘real men’s aeroplanes’ begin to take their final bow’s ? What are the prospects for any sort of “farewell tours” ?
Nice pic’s by the way !

Once the Italians stop flying these soon and the Austrians stop operating the Saab Drakens that’ll be the end of all the real aeroplanes in Europe, apart from the Mig-21’s still around in the former eastern bloc airforces inventories of course.
