A new flying school called ‘Sheffield City Flying School’ is starting out on the 1st September from, yep you guessed – Sheffield City Airport.
Yes it is a but of a plug as its my old instructor who’s starting out on his own.
Excellent instructor and should be good rates and Sheffield don’t charge landing fees for resident aircraft.
Much cheaper option than Leeds.
Starting out with a C150/152 and a PA-28 or some other 4 seater low wing aircraft.
Telephone number to be posted as soon as he has one.
Any chance of some publicity for it

Just had a look at my old 1993 chart – Sheffield airport didn’t even exist then, so as it’s all pretty much new build I’m sure it’s all in very good nick now.
Colin, thanks for the pm by the way, I passed the info on to my mate, she’s going to contact Steve.

Sheffield Terminal
I believe the terminal building at Sheffield is all still complete with the check in desks etc. All very nice and clean but then it should be as it’s only 6 years old.

what is the state of the terminal there? Does it still have all the check-in facilities and amenities from the scheduled carriers days?
I’m getting very interested in this now!

Sheffield
Sheffield City is now open to singles. I visited there last month and on the day of my visit there were several singles including a couple of Tomahawks that looked based.

Colin,
Can you give any idea as to when the info’s coming out? I bought a friend of mine a trial lesson at Netherthorpe and the silly sod’s now decided she wants to go for a PPL… She’s Rotherham based, so any info you have would be useful…
Ta.

Sheffield have been accepting singles for the past few months.
Free landing fees are offered by some of the pilot mags.
So now that singles are allowed – training at Sheffield is available.
The new school details will be released on the forum first and then press released into the magazines.

I thought SZD wouldn’t accept singles, and that was why it never got much GA in – are you sure he aint flying from Netherford is it?
