planning a camping trip to the New Forest down Hampshire ways
can anyone recommend from expierence a half decent campsite near the coastline of Lymington,Keyhaven or Milford-on-sea.
a family of 4 (10,12 year old boy n girl n Er indoors included) traveling from sunny Shropshire. looking for somewheres nowt to posh but nowt to basic either.
and lastly. places of interest, ie aviation, military, historic within about`ish 3/4 hour traveling distance that i can drag them all to and bore them half to death.. we have already selected Bealieu motor museum as a day out and are looking forward to seeing the Top Gear car selection.
please please please and i offer many thanks to those who take the time to help

No snakes in Britain! :diablo:
Look at https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Sterkfontein_Dam_Nature_Reserve (the article is 95% my own work and all the photos are mine)
I go camping there with my kid every year. These guys graze outside your tent in the middle of the night…and the temperature can be freezing (warm in the daytime) from May to September. There is also occasional snow.

The correct name of William of Normandy has attracted censorship – this is quite wrong.
The name I quoted is historically correct and the name by which he was known throughout his un-necessarily long and bloody life. If that which I wrote, is in breach of the Rules then so is the use of ‘bloody’. Starts to get ridiculous doesn’t it ?

Assuming you are close to Lymington and have not been before, you should not miss the opportunity of visiting the I.o.W. by ferry from Lymington. I always feel in a different country when visiting there.
thats a good one to add to the list.. i believe theres an old castle to visit that right out on an island also. so that may be another?
is there a ferry that runs across the estuary to save driving around to the dockland area from the Lymington side does anyone know?.

If (!) you get a nice day, you can do worse than a visit to Lepe Beach.
It isn’t a beach in the usual sense, in that you can park your car on it, and enjoy the views of the Isle of Wight and ships going to / from Southampton, and it is only a short walk to some ruins of where the mulberry harbours were built for D-Day if you want a military fix.
A little further round the coast is also Calshot – not so much to see their, but there is the obvious aviationlink with the flying boats.
.
sounds good, will look into that part thanks

Was changed to Solent Sky Museum several years ago. (Recommended as I was a director many moons ago) 🙂

It’s worth a visit to the Hall of Aviation (I think that is what it is called) at Southampton – near the waterfront and IoW ferry.
About 20 miles to Salisbury City and to Old Sarum. Site of Iron Age Hill fort in remarkable condition and place of various meetings before and during the 11th Century including visit by William The *******.
Hope you have a pleasant time – and the weather stays dry!

we had a look at that one on the web earlier but the campsite website doesn`t realy sell itself to being a campsite to get away from it all. bit to busy and orginised in keeping everyone onsite within the complex.
thanks for the suggestion though
