New Historic Film about Robert S.Johnson's survival against Egon Mayer June 26th 1943

This has been 2-years since I originally started on the film, and after many stop and starts, it’s done!

Now a few details:

It has been created using the IL2 game engine, and is free to download and watch using the XVID Codec download here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Koepi_XviD.htm

The film is the account of Robert S. Johnson’s epic battle for survival on June 26th 1943 after he was attacked by Egon Mayer.

I have tried to stay as accurate to his account as possible, which involved creating over 230 individual plane skins, as the IL2 game didn’t have the ones I needed L

I’ll pick a few bits out of the readme:

Where possible this is an accurate account of the events of that day. I have for the last 2 years asked question after question about details of the day on the Ubi Forums, and all the information I have gathered has been used where possible.

For that reason if you see something that you don’t think is right, I promise you it was not for the want of trying to get the details correct.

I would like to thank every member of the community who has helped me in making this film, and where possible I have credited them at the end of the film.

Remember when you watch this that all the footage had to be captured, rendered, motion sketched, audio added for every part of the film (guns, flak, air, engines, hits, voices…etc, etc, for every frame!), so go easy on the nit-picking please.

After spending that long on the movie, I have, to be honest become slightly jaded to it, and so no-longer see it objectively.

After the final render was complete, I watched it through, and even now, can see (and hear) some things I would probably change…but, after all this time…that’s it. The film is complete, and now it’s being released as it is.

If there is one thing that I can guarantee someone will point out, it’s the ammo that Mayer uses in the finale.

While this film is as historically accurate as I can make it, I needed to use (in hindsight) too much ammunition, but look, it’s a movie, and I have to entertain with it too, so forgive me that indiscretion.

The .zip has a readme file………please do as it requests, it will explain a lot, really, and save me a lot of typing.

At the moment, I am waiting for the file to appear at Netwings, but if you can put up with a possible slow download, the film is now hosted at Fileho. As soon as another host becomes available, I’ll post another link here.

If you download it, you will be one of the first to see it.

It’s a free host, but at the moment, the only one I have, all I would ask is that the video remains unchanged as it is, and not uploaded to Youtube or Google video for the time-being…that is in the readme too!

So, without further ado, and waiting for a faster host, please find attached the link to
“Not my time to die!” The Robert S. Johnson story by Mysticpuma.

There is also a P2P download link on the same page.

It is encoded with the XVID Codec, is a 346mb .zip file, and has a running time of 28minutes 14 seconds.

Cheers, MP.

If you would like to host the film please put a link in your reply, thanks.

A new Mirror has been added at Mission4today, thanks to Euro_Snoopy:

and here’s a couple of links to previous movies I have made:

Well this one is up at Netwings called “47 Heaven”, which is a tribute to online flying in the P-47 set to different sound tracks:

and this is the link to “Secret weapon over Stalingrad” which was the first film I had with over 10,000 downloads 🙂

Hope they work for you, cheers, MP.

This is my last IL2 movie…EVER!!

Thanks very much for taking the time to download and watch it, and also for your kind words.

Basically for anyone who hasn’t seen it, it’s a free 28 minute movie about man’s humanity to man in aerial combat after Robert Johnson refused to give in from three bursts of ammo, from the guns of Egon Mayer, until Mayer eventually Mayer’s guns were left empty, and he decided to fly with Johnson to the coast.

Very glad you liked it so-far guys, MP.

This film must be seen.

Hi Mysticpuma,

I’ve been meaning to congratulate you on this video over at ‘ubizoo’ for the past few days.
It is simply breath-taking.
The story itself is compelling and it’s execution is quite awe-inspiring. You have obviously worked extremely hard on this, and your efforts have certainly paid off! If Mr. Johnson were alive today, i’m certain he’d be quite taken aback.
Having created a few videos using IL-2 myself (you may be familiar with Duel of Eagles?) I can really appreciate and understand just how much work has gone into your production!
Excellent work, cannot believe it’ll be your last. Maybe when Storm of War comes….? 😀 😀

You have inspired me to get working on a new project myself.

Thanks again for allowing us to view such a work of art for free.

All the best!
