New Interview Online – Mosquito Night Fighter Pilot Ron Watts

I thought a few of you may appreciate being pointed in the direction of a new page I have added to my website – an interview with Wing Commander Ron Watts, who commanded No 488 NZ) Squadron at the end of the war, flying Mossie night fighters. Equally interesting are his tales as an instructor in Training Command, an often overlooked arm of the RAF. The whole story can be found here:

Good news – at the time when I interviewed Ron it was at the very beginning of my research project and I still wasn’t entirely sure of what i was doing and where I was going with the project. He had shown me his photo album and there were many excellent photos, particularly from his 488 Sqn days. I never even thought at the time to ask if I could borrow and scan them.

But with the excitement of finally getting his story up online yesterday, and going through it again, I decided to give him a call and see if he’d allow me to scan the photos. He’s happy for this to happen so I’m going to see him tomorrow. Hopefully very soon the story will be well illustrated. 🙂

I also just discovered there was a little more on the second tape of his interview, so I’ve added it into the text. Mainly at the end and in the body of the 488 Sqn text, but there’s a tiny bit about Levin too near the top. Sorry this was not included earlier, it was an oversight.
