Saab,

Where did you get the information from? I’d be really interested to read any article on jets at LCY.

Thanks!

Apologies for dragging this post back up but I got some details about the ERJ 135’s operations into LCY.

The aircraft will be certified for operations in the next few weeks. It would have been given earlier; however, airlines lost interest in operating the aircraft into the airport. This included BA, Swiss and Luxair. The aircraft will have to operate at a restricted payload though Jetmagic say that it will not effect their flights because of the short sector, thus the restricted payload posses no problems.

I think they have introduced a shoddy low cost cabin service to appease the “cheap ticket purchaser” Wys, if my and others on here’s recent experiences have been anything to go by?

I am thinking that the aircraft will probably have to operated at a limited capacity?

I have entered the web….75 euros per flight…..so 150 return to SPain is a good offer but not at low cost. I suppose they try to apply the low cost idea to regular fares, giving flexibility. That´s what domestic airlines are doing in Spain. Right now over here….Iberia, SPanair and Air Europa are having a fare war.
Spanair 30 euros all flights into the peninsula, one way
Iberia 25 euros……………..
Air Europa hasn´t published anything, but let´s wait. they can beat everything. No need a saturday night at destination, no return, and prices grow day by day. Purely low cost.

Embraer Legacy is based on the Emb135, but only as far as fuselage is concerned. It´s a new plane in equipment, performance and weights. It has two varieties: Shuttle for airlines offering only Business with 19 arrangements like Indigo Airlines, and the corporate version, much luxurious, and more range. Never confuse the Emb135 cofigurated in VIP with the Legacy. As far as EMB145, no low cost can´t be profitable with this aircraft. I don´t think the EMB135 is able to get into LCY…..the runway necessary is 1840 meters.

Isn’t the ERJ135 based on the Legacy biz jet? I wonder if the Legacy is LCY certified?

Wysiwyg,
That is what I was trying to find out. I was under the impression that the ERJ 135 was not certified for LCY operations yet. I’m sure the aircraft must be nearly in its complete stage of complying with the LCY regulations, however, it seems Jetmagic are cutting it rather fine if they are to start operations in April.

Saab – Are they really trying to certify the 135 for LCY?

The regions? :S you mean Manchester and Gatwick?

Still rather go BA, or at least, someone I can collect Miles with, be it any oneworld, Star or Skyteam airline. But Ba’s probably the easiest for me to connect with/get a cheaper, all inclusive fare than going on more than one airline coming out of Glasgow.

Talk to a lot of people and you soon come to the conclusion that unless you’re flying transatlantic, BA longhaul is too expensive in an economy class, which is frankly not as good as SQ or EK, airlines which also happen to serve the regions and spare people the LHR “experience” of lost bags when they catch a BA or BMI shuttle to connect.

I paid for some tickets MEL-MAN last week. Well, SQ cost a small amount less than BA (about £20 or £30) and they had the benefit of flying direct MEL-SIN-MAN rather than MEL-SIN-LHR-MAN, ie. one flight less, it’s quicker, less chance of bags disappearing, and probably a better service too.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is the ERJ 135 certified for LCY operations yet?

I don’ t think it is low cost, after all what airline in their right mind would offer low cost to LCY? I think it sounds more of your all included scheduled airline who are dependable, offer good service and good quality.
I am pleased for Cork to get a new airline, shows still some considerable growth is occuring.

There is certainly a great deal ‘low costs’ popping up now.

No wonder BA is concentrating on the upper end of the market.

No mention of low cost?

Are they yet another low cost operator?
