New Jersey BOMARC site

Next weekend I think I’m going to head over to the BOMARC site that sits about 10 minutes from my house and snoop around. Hopefully I’ll be able to get inside the fence and shoot some pictures. For those of you who are unaware of the site’s history, this was the site where a BOMARC blew up in 1960, resulting in a radioactive spill.

Here’s some info:

Here’s a photo report from a recent visitor to the site:

I visited that place many time having lived in eatontown for a year , some pictorial boards were there of SAMs and the bunkers were for gun emplacements during WW2 should the U-boats or Bismark come one foggy morning for a spot of shelling NYC 😀

red bank is a good place for seafood…

Sandy Hook was a NIKE site, not a BOMARC site. Might have to go check that one out!

Made the trip today. No pictures yet, for two reasons.

1. They’ve put up another fence around the facility and there is apparently some sort of work going on there. So the ones I did get were at a distance.

2. Upon opening my photos on my PC, I noticed that there was a dust spot on a lot of them. Gotta clean the lens off before I use it again!

Definitely worth the drive out there though, I enjoyed seeing the place even if it was from a short distance.

The cleanup was completed years ago, there’s no danger of becoming a human glowstick 😀

Interesting , But if there was a radioactive spill or even some traces of radioactive left over isnt it dangerous to enter there . Does this place still remains isolated ?

Hope you dont start glowing in the night after visiting it 😉 , Looking forward to some pics.
