Good Morning everyone,
I’ve been lurking on you board for awhile now and all of your discussions have been enlightening and helpful. I registered today since my searches across the web have stopped being fruitful. Im a low budget film maker, we finished out first movie “Fortress” last year, in February I’m starting a new RAF movie about mosquito night fighters. Our new movie begins in 1939 and ends in 1944 after the baby blitz. Ive been assembling and researching for about a month now ,covering osprey books and others,scouring the Internet to make sure i get the right vendors and wardrobe.
I am having an issue though,reproduction RAF flight gear does not appear to be nearly as common as US and you just cant rent it from prop houses. I’m looking for flight helmets and o2 masks. My concerns are that on our last feature we destroyed id say 90% of our in flight gear(all what price glory repros) covering it with blood . Original gear is just too valuable to be wasted in this way. Are there vendors of reproduction British o2 masks and helmets? Covering that long of a time span I’m going to need to get several variations to cover the changing patterns. My other option is i could manufacture them if i get lots of good pictures of them but at this point realistically my plate is full building a spitfire cockpit and mosquito so i know i don’t have time.
We have tried in our movies to base our stories on real events and situations and to make sure our wardrobe and gear is as dead on as possible and i don’t want to start slacking off now so any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

We discussed the first movie Fortress, at about the time it was released in the UK. General opinion seemed to be “fair effort”, perhaps this one will be better yet?

Was Fortress going to make into dvd market ?
Enjoyed the trailer, remember reading this about a year ago and wondering if this was going to be sold on the dvd market? Your new project sounds great, looking forward to it. The Amiens Prison Raid with Mosquitos would make for a great film…so many unanswered questions still remain today. The BBC 2 documentary with Martin Shaw as host was excellent. Look forward to you new projects completion !

I’d say it was a very good effort and if his next film is about RAF Mosquito’s then thats great news.
