Some pics taken in Lelystad this afternoon in- and outside the new aviation themepark here, that opens next wednesday. First one showing the interior of the mainbuilding. PH-375 was the glider in which I learned to fly in 1981. strange it is in a museum now. BW Roger

It is a genuine DC-4 (C-54 actually, but who cares ;)), owned by the DDA. Originally the idea was to get it into flying condition. Then the DDA bought the PH-DDS and decided to strip it for parts to keep the PH-DDS in the air. I don’t think this plane will be flying anymore. It would require some serious money.
There is a bus service to the museum. Line 148 in the direction of “Harderwijk”. The bus will stop at the airport after a 10 or 15 minutes drive. From the bus stop to the museum is a 5 minutes walk.
Opening hours for the museum are 10:00 to 17:00. During the summer season the opening hours are 09:00 to 18:00. Entry price for adults is 12,80 euro.
Don’t know about the flying museum. Over the years a lot of museums and organizations joined forces under the Aviodrome banner. They may have been absorbed.
As for walking around the airport. There are some places where you can come close to the ramp. I am not sure if you can walk completely around it. Never tried.

Nice photos , is that a gunuine DC-4 in the background or a mock up?
I am coming over next year for a weekend at AMS and looking to go to the new museum. Is there going to be a bus service from Leystad station, or is it still a taxi journey?
Also I last visited about 10 years ago when there was a flying museum. I remember T-6’s, S-11’s, Tiger Moths, Dove etc. Are they still there? Also is it still ok to walk round the active airfield?

Roger – they don’t hand around over there with getting their aircraft ready ! Seems like only minutes since AMCA left!!
Seeing aircraft that you have flown or worked on is certainly
a bit sobering!!

Outside, the Schiphol 1928 terminal is recreated with former G-AMCA standing in front of it, in its new 1939 KLM livery. BW Roger
